Yup. It's true (for the most part)*. Here's why:
You win. My services are free! You get something for nothing! Where else do you get to say that?
They win. Travel suppliers WANT you to use a travel agent. They're confident your experience is going to be better with me, so they'll pay me from their pocket.
I win too! As much as I love planning as a hobby, it's nice to do it professionally. And I can guarantee that the money I make goes right back in the travel budget. Gotta support our travel obsession somehow!
*The one caveat that makes it not 100%, is the chance we're working with a supplier who doesn't offer TA commissions. In this rare case, I would ask for a small planning fee to compensate.
